Damn, that was a good day!
At 6:30 in the morning two Saturdays ago, my little 3-year-old peanut crawled into bed with me. Our ritual. I hold up the covers, she slides in and we have cuddle time. No sooner than her head hit the pillow on this morning did she bounce back up to say, “Happy Birthday, Mommy” with a soft, sleepy smile.

When I was a kid, I was tougher and smarter than most girls. I could pass the sissy test, steal candy cigarettes from the corner drug store, and stare you down like Dirty Harry ‘till you ran home hiding behind your mama’s sneakers.
